Senior Consultant of Business Development
Ernest Smith is a tenacious, successful entrepreneur. He began his distinguished career in the
federal government, dedicating more than 35 years of selfless service. One of his most
noteworthy accomplishments during his tenure in the Federal government was serving as the
Combined Federal Campaign Coordinator for the Atlanta District. While in this role, he
generated more than $8 million in contributions for various non-profit organizations.
Also, while serving in the government, Ernest became a voracious community organizer. He
successfully liaised with businesses, the community, and local governments to benefit residents
in the Atlanta metro area. The rapport and relationships he developed with community leaders
were instrumental to several initiatives in the Black community to include voter registration,
STEM, robotics awareness, and sports.
After a successful government career, Ernest established the ESJ UPLIFT FOUNDATION, INC. ESJ
focuses on mentoring, developing, and enhancing the quality of life for young, at risk Black men
in the Atlanta metro area. Since its inception, ESJ has expanded to other cities in the southeast
to include: Charlotte, NC., Augusta, GA., Columbia, SC., and Birmingham, AL. ESJ is also a
coaching organization that prepares young men and women to earn acceptance into Historically
Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other institutions of higher learning.
Ernest earned a BS Degree in Public Administration Management in 1985 from North Carolina
Central University. He is also a Certified Life Coach and proud member of Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity, Inc.
